“My first outings on my own with twins were the multiples groups. All they did was lie on the floor from memory but I had a lovely time with a still warm cup of tea and people “who got it”.” – Simone
There are many unstructured playgroups throughout the state for families of twins, triplets and more run by Children’s Centres, other organisations and volunteers. They are safe, supportive spaces for families of twins, triplets & more to connect with others who are in the same boat.
They are a casual, generally unstructured groups for those with multiples of any age – even newborns! Everyone is welcome including those who are expecting, other siblings, mums, dads & other carers. You don’t have to stay the whole time – dropping in for half an hour around naps is perfectly acceptable. If you are concerned about the logistics of getting your babies out of the car for example, make contact with the group before you come and they’ll be more than happy to help you.
The groups meet in multiple friendly environments – that is child friendly, secure and with toys too – and most are free (any costs are listed in the group details). Many groups meet in Children’s Centres which provide additional support services for families such as parenting courses, occupational therapists, speech therapists and more.
So find your local group from the list below and contact the person listed or join the Facebook group to connect with local multi families. If there is nothing in your area and you are interested in setting up a group, please contact us to discuss your ideas.
Regardless of this, any multiple birth family is welcome at any of these groups – you do not need to be an MBSA member.
